Addicted to Girls Trips? Us Too. 6 Reasons We Just Can't Stop Taking Them

I’ll admit it, I’m a bit travel obsessed.

With this fact in mind, it’s no surprise that I’ve tried just about every type of travel one could imagine. From adventure getaways to relaxation retreats, plane trips to staycations, domestic and international vacations, solo and couples trips…the list goes on. While every trip type has its benefits, I want to call out one of my absolute favorites - girls trips.

You might be wondering, “What are some good girls’ trips to take?” The answer, luckily, is that you really can’t go wrong! If you want to stay close to home, you and your friends might want to do a staycation in your home city. If you want to add a little more adventure, a road trip could be a ton of fun for you and your girlfriends. Or, if your group of friends wants to really shake things up, you can get on a plane and head to almost any US city where you’ll find great food, delicious drinks, live entertainment, a little bit of history, and some great photo ops!

With so many options, I find myself scheduling getaways with my girls often. Here are the 6 reasons why I always love a good girls’ trip:

Unplug + unwind with your besties.

  1. Ability to Reconnect With Friends

I don’t know about you, but in the last couple of years, my friends and I have gotten extremely used to Facetime hangouts outnumbering our in-person ones. Traveling with your friends provides the perfect opportunity to unplug and disconnect from the digital world, and finally, get the chance to enjoy your friendships face to face.

My most recent girls’ trip was an outdoor adventure in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Georgia. My girlfriends and I had the chance to spend time together in nature and relax in a cozy cabin, giving us the peace and quiet to connect and grow our friendships even more. In my opinion, outdoor adventures make some of the best girls’ trips!

2. Opportunity to Experience a New City Together

These BFFs explored Savannah, GA on their girls trip!

Another reason girls’ trips are important, is that coordinating meetups with long distance friends can be challenging! While my college friends love visiting one another’s home cities, we also know we have the best times when we pick a new city to experience together. This way we can “meet in the middle” and do some must-do girls trips like Nashville, New Orleans, Savannah, Chicago, Denver, and many more!

#DidYouKnow Pack Up + Go plan trips for travelers who are departing from different cities? If each member of your group is departing from different airports, it can get tricky to coordinate one destination - so we'll do it for you! When you're checking out, you'll need to include each traveler's departing airport, so we'll know where everyone is coming from and find somewhere for you to meet in the middle.

3. Downtime is Much More Fun with Your BFFs

We all know that the logistics of travel can be stressful. Anyone who’s traveled a lot is familiar with showing up to the airport bright and early only to learn that their plane has been delayed by 2 hours. Or getting in the car for a Road Trip and finding that you’ve run out of discussion topics and games by hour two.

When you travel with your friends, it’s guaranteed that you are going to have a blast every step of the way! Whether you are sitting in an airport longer than expected, or on a long drive, you know that you have the company of your favorite people to enjoy.

4. You Have Zero Obligations

For many of us, travel these days is so often centered around events. And while I love traveling for friends’ weddings or family reunions, most of my time ends up being taken up by the festivities.

Taking a girls trip with no obligations allows you and your friends to have your entire trip designated to girl time. Even if it’s just an easy girls trip, like a short Road Trip or Staycation, the clearly allocated time to spend with one another will inevitably be incredibly special!

Exploring is that much better with the people you love!

5. Crossing Items Off Your Bucket List

Most people who are as obsessed with traveling as I have long bucket lists of things they want to do and places they want to see. Over the years as I have begun to cross some items off of my list, I’ve been lucky enough to cross some of them off alone, some with family, some with a significant other, and some with friends.

And while all of those experiences have been very special, there’s nothing quite like having a bucket list experience with your best friends.

6. Pack Up + Go Does the Planning for You!

While my friends and I have made a conscious effort to travel together over the years, as we get older everyone also seems to get busier and busier. But ever since I started working at Pack Up + Go, my friends constantly want to take Pack Up + Go Trips together.
