Testimonial Tuesday: Paige + Dan

Q: Why did you sign up for your trip? What were you looking to get out of it?

A:  It was an anniversary gift to me from my boyfriend. We were looking to take a trip just for ourselves that didn’t involve traveling to see family or weddings.

Q: Did you have hesitations about taking a surprise trip? Were you nervous?

A: I was very nervous. Being Type A, it’s hard to relinquish control, but it was also freeing not having to plan anything.

Q: Where did you guess you were going to travel? Were you surprised by the destination?

A: We thought we for sure were going to the East Coast. I thought Philly + Dan thought Boston. We were both shocked but in a very good way. :)

Q: Upon discovery of your destination, what were some perceptions about your city prior to the trip?

A: I don’t think we had any prior conceptions before our arrival.

Q: What made the trip feel unique and tailored to you?

A: We were on our own schedule. We could do whatever we wanted whenever we wanted to do it. Also, the suggestions felt catered to us by the fact that we love live music and specialty cocktails and there were great recommendations that we took advantage of in finding those two things in New Orleans.

Q: What did you like most about your travel accommodations?

A: The location in the city and the grandiose of the hotel.

Q: What was your favorite experience that we recommended for you?

A: The WWII museum and the Lafayette Cemetery were our favorite activities. Also riding the streetcar on St. Charles.

Q: If you could do the trip over again what would you do differently?

A: We would have left earlier on Friday and earlier on Sunday.

Q: What did you discover on your own (not on your itinerary) in your destination that you feel is shareworthy?

A: We had dinner at two great spots: one was Amelie cafe in the French Quarter. It’s great farm-to-table with an amazing patio tucked back off of bourbon st. Also, Superior Seafood along St. Charles was delicious!

Q: What was your favorite part of your trip?

A: Being with each other and on our own schedule.

Q: What did you learn on your trip, or from your trip?

A: Letting go of the planning process was a challenge but it worked out for the best! Every second of a trip doesn’t need to be planned before arrival for it to be memorable.

Q: What would you say to someone who is hesitant to go on a surprise getaway?

A: Do it! The customer service is outstanding and they work so closely with you to ensure a proper fit for location and budget.

Testimonial Tuesday: Denise + Donna

Q: Why did you sign up for your trip? What were you looking to get out of it?

A: As a birthday gift for a dear friend.  I was looking to provide a joyful and dedicated friend experience.

Q: Did you have hesitations about taking a surprise trip? Were you nervous?

A: No hesitation at all.  Giving up control and the associated mystery/intrigue was one of the best parts of the experience.

Q: Where did you guess you were going to travel? Were you surprised by the destination?

A: We took bets on Austin, TX, possibly Nashville, TN + also Charleston, SC which was the final destination.  Our assumptions were based on some of the experiences featured on your website.

Q: Upon discovery of your destination, what were some perceptions about your city prior to the trip?

A: Charming, walkable, historic.

image

Q: What made the trip feel unique and tailored to you?

A: The charming hotel and the great corner room, which flooded with sunlight, as well as the surprise birthday celebration Prosecco that room service delivered. The charming historic neighborhoods that we walked through. Great restaurants, cafes and cocktail establishments - found while touring the city and those recommended in the great itineraries you provided.

Q: What did you like most about your travel accommodations?

A: The flights were well planned to ensure that we made our connection comfortably so as not to feel rushed.

Q: What was your favorite experience that we recommended for you?

A: The walking tours and the recommended stops along the way.

Q: If you could do the trip over again what would you do differently?

A: Simply mentally prepare for the heat.  It was very very hot and humid.

Q: What did you discover on your own (not on your itinerary) in your destination that you feel is shareworthy?

A: Gaulart and Malicet Cafe Restaurant, 98 Broad Street, Charleston.  Charming, interesting and a great little spot for some wine and charcuterie.

Q: What was your favorite part of your trip?

A: Spending quality time with a dear friend.

Q: What did you learn on your trip, or from your trip?

A: I learned about Charleston.  What makes it special now - and the cities history.  I am also now able to recommend it as a destination to others.  I would love to go back someday - in the Fall when it is not so hot.
I also learned that it is easy to get to by air from Pittsburgh.  I usually shy away from flights that are not non-stop, which doesn’t leave many options.  This taught me that I shouldn’t limit myself.

Q: How would you describe Pack Up + Go and your experience to your friends and family?

A: Really great - it is unbelievable how many people before the trip and during the trip were intrigued by our experience.  It was so great having someone do all of the planning for us.  Using this service again is a no-brainer for me - everything went so smoothly.

Q: What would you say to someone who is hesitant to go on a surprise getaway

A: I remember as a child the first plane flight I ever took and how the excitement about this made the flights an integral part of the overall experience. The “surprise” aspect of this Pack Up + Go trip similarly became an integral part of the overall experience.  The suspense, surprise, and discovery of someplace new.  Loved it!
