Today in 1904, Salvador Dalí was born!

Fans of his artwork should visit The Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, FL which has the largest collection of Dalí’s works outside Europe!

Molly + Clarice enjoyed “Fantaisies Diurnes” on their trip to the Sunshine State!

Irish Mule Recipe

Irish Mule Recipe

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with this refreshing, Leprechaun approved recipe!

We put a spin on the classic vodka mule recipe by adding Wigle Rye Whiskey to compliment the holiday. Adding lime, simple syrup + sage with Natrona ginger beer puts a unique, flavorful twist on this cocktail.

image

Recipe:

  • 2 oz. Irish whiskey

  • 6 oz. ginger beer (or more!)

  • ½ - ¾ oz. of simple syrup

  • Juice of half a lime (about 1 ounce)

  • Lime slices (optional, for garnish)

  • Sage sprig (optional, for garnish)

  • Ice (crushed if possible)

image
  1. Fill a Moscow Mule mug (or rocks glass if you don’t have a mug!) with crushed ice

  2. Squeeze in lime juice

  3. Pour in the whiskey - we used a local Pittsburgh company, Wigle Whiskey, for our brand of choice, but your favorite whiskey is a perfect addition!

  4. Fill with cold ginger beer - we used the local Natrona Bottling Company’s classic variation for our ginger beer brand of choice!

  5. Serve with a stirring rod.

  6. Add sage + muddle (*optional*)

  7. Add a lime wedge for garnish (*optional*)

Note:

Ginger beer is to taste! If you like more of a whiskey taste, add less ginger beer. For a milder drink, add more!

Testimonial Tuesday: Ashley + Benjamin

Q: Why did you sign up for your trip? What were you looking to get out of it?

A: We were looking for a 3-day getaway where we didn’t have to do any of the planning! We both travel for work + to see our families, so we wanted a weekend away where we didn’t have to worry about the planning! With our 1 year wedding anniversary coming up, we thought this would be the perfect “paper” gift!

Q: Did you have hesitations about taking a surprise trip? Were you nervous?

A: Having a Type A personality, and doing so much planning I was anxious about the trip. It was a good learning experience for me to let it go and know that someone else could handle everything for me. Lillian + her team did a fantastic job with communication and updates so I was not worried. It was just hard to not be in control ;)

Q: Where did you guess you were going to travel? Were you surprised by the destination?

A: We guesses the southeast area of the country. We were totally surprised to hear we were going to San Francisco!! (Although a co-worker of my guessed right). Neither of us had been to California so we were very excited!

Q: What made the trip feel unique and tailored to you?

A: Having the maps + recommended agenda/itinerary available in paper and electronic forms was great!! Having it on paper allowed us to learn a bit about the city while flying. Having it all electronically allowed us to check things while we were exploring!

Q: What was your favorite experience that we recommended for you?

A: My husband is a big tea drinker so he LOVED the Japanese Tea garden. I very much enjoyed it as well. My favorite was the Golden Gate Bridge and Painted Ladies. We actually took a boat tour around the bridge + Alcatraz which was fantastic! We try to do boat tours when we visit new cities.

Q: What did you like most about your travel accommodations?

A: Centrally located! We could walk almost anywhere. And when we were tired of walking, Lyft + Uber were available to help us out.

Q: What did you discover on your own (not on your itinerary) in your destination that you feel is shareworthy?

A: Corny as it is, I was dying to see the “Full House” House. We found it, took a few pics + helped other tourists do the same!! From there, we walked to Lombard Street, which was quite a bit harder than it looked, but totally worth it!

Q: What was your favorite part of your trip?

A: The whole experience!! From the suspense of not knowing where we were going, to having travel + lodging taken care of, to fantastic food and sites. We saw SO MUCH in our short amount of time in San Francisco. With the maps and suggestions provided, we were able to plan a jammed pack trip while still finding time to relax and take it in. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. In our vows we promised “to go on adventures with one another” and when we heard of Pack Up + Go we thought this would be the PERFECT way to do that!

Q: If you could do the trip over again what would you do differently?

A: Make dinner reservations at restaurants.

Q: How would you describe Pack Up + Go and your experience to Family + Friends?

A: I have described it to our families, friends, and co-workers as a must try experience! It is a lot to process, especially if you are controlling, but well worth the experience!! The thrill alone is incredible! And then the ease of navigating makes it simple to jump right in and explore.

Q: What did you learn on your trip, or from your trip?

A: That we want to continue to explore other cities!

Q: What would you say to someone who is hesitant to go on a surprise getaway?

A: Give it a try! Well worth the investment + adventure. You will have memories that will last a lifetime!

Celebrate love, life and adventure like Ashley + Benjamin!

Q: Why did you sign up for your trip? What were you looking to get out of it?

A: A friend of mine posted on facebook about her trip and it looked like fun. So I visited with the ladies in the family + decided we needed to do this.

Q: Did you have hesitations about taking a surprise trip? Were you nervous?

A: No. I was not nervous one bit.

Q: Where did you guess you were going to travel? Were you surprised by the destination?

A: We thought we were going to east coast. Yes, because we never thought of California!

Q: Upon discovery of your destination, what were some perceptions about your city prior to the trip?

A: We were excited to experience the downtown life, visit the beaches, and eat seafood!!

Q: What made the trip feel unique and tailored to you?

A: We had massages scheduled for us since we were wanting a relaxing weekend. Suggestions were right up our alley. Fit us great!

Q: What did you like most about your travel accommodations?

A: Since we live in a remote area we said we would drive to another city for an airport. We left early in morning and had a nice layover for breakfast and arrived in San Diego early in the afternoon so we could start exploring.

Q: What was your favorite experience that we recommended for you?

A: Oyster bar + massages.

Q: If you could do the trip over again what would you do differently?

A: Nothing!

Q: What did you discover on your own (not on your itinerary) in your destination that you feel is shareworthy?

A: We loved hanging out downtown at little pubs/bars. We stick to the recommendations minus one restaurant

Q: What was your favorite part of your trip?

A: All of it. But the surprise of finding out tops it.

Q: How would you describe Pack Up + Go and your experience to Family + Friends?

A: A MUST-DO!!! I recommend you guys all the time! I can’t wait to do this again!

Q: What did you learn on your trip, or from your trip?

A: Culture.

Q: What would you say to someone who is hesitant to go on a surprise getaway?

A: Don’t be. They tell you how to pack with the hints. Try it. If you decide you don’t like the unknown at least you can say is you tried. This is great for those who always want to travel but don’t know where to go or what to see and do.

Want to get away with your friends to a new place full of culture + fun?!

Q: Why did you sign up for your trip? What were you looking to get out of it?

A: My bestie + I take a trip every year for our birthdays and we thought this was a cool idea. We wanted an adventure!

Q: Did you have hesitations about taking a surprise trip? Were you nervous?

A: I think we were mostly just excited. Although we were occasionally a little worried that we would get sent somewhere lame because we could only do the lowest budget option.

Q: Where did you guess you were going to travel? Were you surprised by the destination?

A: We guessed a few places, based on the weather report. Actually, several of our friends guessed our destination correctly, too, so we weren’t SUPER surprised about it, but definitely excited for the unveiling.

Q: Upon discovery of your destination, what were some perceptions about your city prior to the trip?

A: We were excited. One of us had been before as a kid, but we knew that it had a reputation for being a pretty hip city.

Q: What made the trip feel unique and tailored to you?

A: Our PU+G agent was so nice. She really tailored everything to us very well and communicated with us a lot. Plus, we were traveling for both our birthdays and we got some wonderful surprises - like champagne from the hotel + a gift card to a nearby wine bar.

Q: What did you like most about your travel accommodations?

A: Our hotel was great. I love that the Kimpton hotels have a happy hour in the evenings in the lobby, and I thought this particular hotel was really cool and funky. Plus, it was located almost downtown, so we walked almost everywhere.

Q: What was your favorite experience that we recommended for you?

A: Loved the foodie tour of Pike Place Market!! It was so fun to try all the different foods and hear about the history of everything.

Q: If you could do the trip over again what would you do differently?

A: When we found out where we were going I texted some friends who lived there. We got brunch which was great and also ended up getting together at night. I think with such a sort trip it’s hard to do everything, so if we did it again I’d probably stick to one non-itinerary meal.

Q: What was your favorite part of your trip?

A: I think the Chihuly Glass Museum + the Pike Place Market foodie tour were my favorite parts. But traveling with my bestie is always fun, especially when so much of the trip is celebrating and drinking wine!

Q: What did you learn on your trip, or from your trip?

A: Seattle is a lot like Denver!

Q: How would you describe Pack Up + Go and your experience to your Family and Friends?

A: It was a great way to do a short, domestic adventure. It a totally new way to travel for me, since I’m usually the planner for trips.

Q: What would you say to someone who is hesitant to go on a surprise getaway?

A: They’ll take care of you. It’s totally worth it!
