Nowhere will you receive finer Southern hospitality by their wonderful employees who make it their mission to go above and beyond for their guests.

Nearby:

As for closest attractions, one of the entrances is directly across the street from the Historic Charleston City Market. Since 1804, this market has served as a gathering point for local artisans + farmers. Additionally, the hotel is located in the middle of Charleston's Museum Mile. Along a one-mile section of Meeting Street you will find 6 museums, 5 nationally renowned historic houses, 4 scenic parks, a Revolutionary War powder magazine, and an array of historic houses of worship and public buildings such as the Market and City Hall. Located 12 miles away, the hotel is only a 20 minute drive to and from Charleston International Airport.

Eat in Style:

Within the walls of this grand hotel, you can indulge in 2 Forbes Four Diamond restaurants.  The Palmetto Cafe is the only Four Diamond breakfast + lunch restaurant in the state of South Carolina.  The famous Charleston Grill has been consistently recognized as one of the best fine dining establishments in the US and Charleston from TripAdvisor, OpenTable, Forbes, Wine Spectator, etc.  Trying to keep it casual? Try the sports bar, Meeting at Market, that serves elevated pub fare with nearly two dozen rotating taps. For a light bites + live music, we suggest grabbing a quick meal and handcrafted cocktails at the lobby bar, Thoroughbred Club.

Fun Facts from the Staff:

  • “We have been hosts to past presidents, members of the royal family, A-list celebrities and actors, and famous athletes.”

  • “Our hotel was a vision from the former Mayor of Charleston, Joseph P. Riley. He was one of the longest serving mayors in the United States that is still living, having served 10 terms starting on December 15, 1975 and ending on January 11, 2016. In the 70's and 80's Charleston was considered very seedy and dangerous, which is hard to believe looking at it in its current state. Mayor Riley had an idea to build a hotel in the center of downtown that included shopping and restaurants to breathe new life into the Holy City. His vision turned into a reality when our hotel was built in 1986, originally as an Omni, but it really started the revitalization of downtown Charleston.”

Favorite Part of The Job:

“I love helping make memories happen for families and friends that visit here. Nothing makes me happier than seeing the same couple, family, or group of friends come back to our hotel year after year.”

What They Say About YOU!

"I admire the spontaneity!"

Favorite Memory:

“While I worked at the front desk, I met a woman who was celebrating her 90th birthday with the help of her family.  It was on her bucket list to stay with us on our exclusive Club Level. We upgraded her to the Presidential Suite, so she could indulge in all 1000 sq ft. “

Where to Go:

"Wandering by foot is my favorite activity. Walking along the cobblestone streets, finding different winding alleys, and taking in the art and architecture our city has to offer is my favorite thing to do. Then, I pop into the Charleston Grill, sit at the bar, take in the live jazz, order the famous crab cake and sip champagne. It's truly a beautiful experience!"

Best Photo Opp:

“The Battery, White Point Gardens, Rainbow Row, Waterfront park, Pineapple fountain, any beautiful antebellum/Georgian home.
